A Cowboy Event!

I am the Activity Days leader for the 11 year old girls. Saturday was our Daddy Daughter Activity and I needed a date. Boom went to the swim meet, so Easton opted to be my date. It was a Cowboy Event! It was fun, and the food was great! You know its always all about the food!
It was a BBQ! BBQ sandwiches, chips, and veggie tray!
Isn't he a cute cowboy date! Thanks Log for the hat!

Region Swimming 2011

Saturday, January 29, was the Region Swimming Meet. The Cavemen were issued new swimming caps for this meet and each swimmer chose what they wanted on their cap. Jensen chose the name "Lil Whitt", in honor of Logan who swam with "Whitt" on his swimming cap.
Jensen was a bit nervous for this meet. 1. Because it was Region, 2. Because of all the people and 3. Because Jensen gets nervous about everything that isn't familiar. He told his Dad that he threw up twice before his first race. Now that's what I call nervous.
He swam the 50 freestyle
Pretty good dive! Jensen is the one at the top of the photo.
J is the swimmer in the second lane from the top of the photo
Jensen swam a personal best of 32.63. Way to go.....Jensen!
Jensen also swam the 100 freestyle
He dives alot like Logan, with his feet apart and one is usually higher than the other.
Go J!!!
Jensen had another personal best of 1:114:00! Awesome!!
Jensen is checking in with Kathy King, his swim coach. I think this is where he promises Kathy that he will be swimming again next year. Yeah! It has been a great season and Jensen has made a lot of new friends and learned a lot about himself. We love you J and are so proud of what you have accomplished this year!

BYu vs SDSU!! Go Cougars!

Wednesday was the BIG Game! Our neighbors and friends the Wagners bought tickets for this game at the beginning of the season and ask 4 couples to go. Little did he know that these tickets were going for $200, he might have reconsidered inviting his friends and sold them for a big return on his money. It was a great evening! We had sushi at Happy Sumo (sushi is our favorite) prior to the game, and enjoyed a PACKED Marriott Center game. Jimmer Ferdette was on fire, as usual, with a career high scoring game of 43. The #9 Cougars beat #5 San Diego 71-58. Just a bit of trivia.....The last time BYU beat a #5 team or higher was in 1965! That's 45 years ago, Go Cougars!!!

Easton gets his Bobcat in Cubscouts!

Easton received his Bobcat award at Pack Meeting tonight. We, as parents, have been slackers in the cubscout department for Easton, as he has been a cubscout since July and the Bobcat is the first award that you are supposed to get. To our defense, when Easton started cubscouts, he had football every Tuesday night until November, thus we didn't go to pack meeting. But we have tried to redeem ourselves as of late. Please don't notice that on the scout shirt that Easton is wearing that he already has his wolf and bear. (Hence, the shirt was Jensen's and the mother hasn't taken off Jensen's awards. This to is on the list of never ending to-do's)
Our Pack has a ritual ceremony of painting the scouts face with symbolic colors of what the scout stands for. (Kind of a messy ritual if you ask me, but I am only the mother, right?)
Easton got to lead the pack in his favorite cheer. "Let's give ourselves a round of applause!" (Oh how I love scouts! Hahaha!) But yes the boys do, and I can handle it one more go around, because it is my last!
Easton got to pin on the mothers pin on my jacket.
E was so excited to get his award. He got a wolf bead as well!

The Piano Recital

Tonight was Jordyn's annual piano recital for her piano students. Every year I am more amazed at my daughter's abilities at teaching piano. When she was in 9th grade her pianon teacher Yvonne Andrus challenged her to become a teacher and said that it would help her in her own abilities to play. That was 7 years ago and she is still teaching. She loves it and loves her students! It's funny because as her life gets busier, she questions whether she can give it up, and she always tells me "I can't, I love it too much" Her students are very lucky to have her as their teacher, and I think after talking to some of them, they realize it too.
Easton started taking piano from Jordyn in September, and even though we've had our ups and downs, he has done very well. He had his song memorized, even though for security purposes, he brought the music.
He played very confidently and we were all very proud of him.
"My name is Easton Whittaker and I will be playing Jingle Bells" Jordy was trying to convince him to do a curtsy, but Dad stopped that one immediately!
Jordy stood and welcomed the audience with such confidence. She has really grown from this experience of teaching piano. She has learned responsibility, dependability, tolerance, patience, and love for others. She has also learned to save her money. In August of 2009, she bought a new car and in August of 2010, she paid it off, thus learning how great it feels to have no debt. We are so proud of her!

Happy New Year! 1-1-11

Happy New Year 2011! Its hard to believe that another year has come and gone. 2010 was a great year for the Whittaker's and we look forward to another great year filled with family, friends, the gospel, and our Savior! Easton was so excited to tell me that today was 1-1-11! Doesn't happen happen everyday. We are so blessed to be healthy, happy, have family, the gospel, and a Savior that blesses us beyond our expectations! May you have a great 2011! We look forward to it!
We went sledding on New Years Day up to Olsen's cabin. It was VERY cold, but very relaxing and enjoyable, especially to be with family and friends. A good time was had by all!
Easton, Boom and Jensen...
Meg, Shea, Chezney, and Jordy
Kyle and Remi...
This was Jordyn, Shea and Meg....they went off course and ended up covered in snow!
Todd, Ann and Kim Tolley. Dave Olsen built a fire up top so that everyone could stay warm. It was only 5 degrees....BRRRR!
Meg, Shea and Jordy on the fast plastic sled...
Dave has a snow cat that brought tubes and bodies up from the bottom.
He actually had a little too much fun preparing for our tubing day!
Jordyn had an icicle on her hat....it was actually pretty cool.
Sisters....with Todd and Ann's dog Charlie
Boomer had a blast! He actually went the farthest and almost crashed into the barbed wire fence. That only gave Dave the idea to remove the fence and take the track even farther. Jensen ended the day with the record of going the farthest and almost ending up in the corral of horses
More snowcatting....
Chatting and trying to keep Charlie warm.
Making the tubing course....too fun!
Remi liked the snow. She also liked laying on the frozen pond. Freaked us out a bit.
Easton hiking back up for another run. It was hard work bringing the sleds back up, without the snowcat. He had a blast! IT was definitely a fun day and a great way to start the new year. John and Cathy were there as well as myself, but I neglected to get everyones pictures because we got cold. Happy New Year!
